You get tales of idiocy, or course...

guy is trying to get his cable up and workin..bein a cheapskate he chose self install and fucked it up royally..and calls me to get it connected..i hear his kids raising hell in the background....hes really pissed he cant get online and is screaming at them...eventually they begin to get on my nerves too...so i have him repeat EVERYTHING to me over and over..."sir i can't hear you..theres too much noise in the background" lol he goes ballistic and has me hold on while he apparently kills 2 or 3 of them from the sound of it:)

today a woman calls in, and says the cable installer has given her a virus...and that the virus has sent itself to everyone of her 122 contacts...her husband was one of them and he wisely scanned the attachment at his job where a copy was sent. She denied having opened any attachments in any email or downloading any files since the service was installed...thing was she had NOT used Outlook Express ever...until the cable was hooked up anyway. Apparently this thing LURKED on her drive till outlook was setup..then when it had a connection...and an imported addressbook...it launched:) she was convinced we sent it to her while pinging the mac on her modem....i told her hey call a pc shop and ask...its IMPOSSIBLE to send a virus to a mac address on a modem or nic card....tell your lawyer if you want ...boy will she look like a dumbass if she sues as threatened

Ok. Well, it's not really like me to chime in (well, ok, it is, but still...) Hack doesn't believe that anyone's reading this page, mainly because I don't let him see the server logs, or the counter stats. So I've promised to give him a counter. Because, as like myself, it's the feedback, and the fact that you are getting your message out, that makes publishing for free a satisfying occurrance.

So if you enjoy the stories, drop him a comment or two, and I guarantee that will up the frequency of the postings.

Networkin Numbskulls #3 guy calls up lying as usual about being on a network...18 pcs on one modem in a dorm...now thats ambitious...these guys are really offended we wont help them get their sygate problems worked out too..."but sygate support told us it was your fault" hey you are paying for one ip....exactly what the fuck you expect for one account anyway?? i told im i could only diagnose one pc...if it was directly hooked to the modem with no hubs or routers...and i can hear his mob of buds in the background whispering "shit NO dont disconnect it ..took us weeks to get it working" our colleges at work...and just think..one day they will be running the country:)

old lady calls to complain that she cant connect to the internet...i ask her to launch IE..fatal error immediately...so i have her open her program files folder...fatal error...so i have her run winipcfg...fatal error....so i have her reboot and run scandisc...fatal error....further diagnosis indicates she has had the pc nearly 6 years...it has never been defragged ("what are you talking about?")and has what looks like 2 mb freespace for virtual memory....and is running 95 on 16 mb of ram..and she says WE have ruined her pc and she will talk to a lawyer....umm whats a 166 mhz going for these days anyway....and do you think anyones gonna even think about sueing time warner/att/aol/media one??? is this senile dementia i wonder? "mam your monthly bill will buy a better pc"
